We thank you so very much for agreeing to host with us this year! We could not do this without you. Below is information about what the tour looks like from your perspective as well as some ideas of what you can do as a host.
- We have 8-10 gardens on this year’s tour.
- Expectations of hosts:
- Some hosts choose to offer refreshments, but it is not a requirement
- We want you or someone to represent you to answer questions about gardens.
- Guests are there to walk through the garden, take pictures, and ask questions.
- Please make sure to garden in tip top shape! We will mark your yard with a sign and balloons to recognize you as a stop
- Parking – please think about guests accessing the road or your driveway to park at your tour stop. Let us know what the parking situation will be so that we may indicate it on the map.
- Consider how you would like to welcome guests into your yard. Is there a specific gate, where would you like to be in greeting your guests?
- The garden club intends to lend one volunteer to your property the day-of to assist you in whatever you need and to ensure the protection of your property.
- Pets – Secure pets or consider them visiting a friend’s house for the day. We are concerned for your pet’s safety as well as your guests’.
- Weather – This event will occur rain or shine! Make sure that you are prepared for the entire day.
- What to expect one month out:
- Continue to maintain gardens.
- Water, water, water!
- Submit your garden blurb to hurontulips.thymegc@gmail.com
- Think about your parking plan and submit to hurontulips.thymegc@gmail.com
- Tell everyone you know! Encourage them to purchase tickets to see your gardens and your community’s! Funds will go towards beautifying our township.
- One of our volunteers will reach out to check-in to see if you have any questions.
- What to expect week before
- One of our volunteers will reach out to review any last minute details, what guests will receive, as well as checking-in for any last minute questions
- Choose your outfit, refreshments, decor, or whatever you need to have ready.
- Remind your friends to buy last minute tickets!
- What to expect day of
- Be ready to go early on. Guests will come in, and you can’t count on many breaks
- Pack a lunch or have something easy to eat during the day.
- Stay hydrated as you will be outside all day.
- Have so much fun!!
